CASTILLA JUAREZ, Karlos A.. The good, the bad, the ugly, and the desireable in the (s)election of members of the Inter-American Human Rights Commission and Court. []. , 20, pp.119-136. ISSN 2528-7834.  https://doi.org/10.18272/iu.v20i20.921.

The election process of members of both the Inter-American Human Rights Commission and the Court is one of the topics that, despite its importance, has been scarcely analyzed and debated when discussing how to strengthen the Inter-American Human Rights System. For that reason, this paper seeks to fill some of these gaps by describing and analyzing election processes and, at the same time, identifying the positive, the negative and the reprehensible aspects of such processes. After that, and seeking to generate debate, this paper proposes how the election process should be developed, not only within the General Assembly of the Organization of American States, but also national nomination processes.
