El presente artículo aborda el impacto del poder blando estadounidense en Cuba, como política de Estado, luego del acercamiento diplomático del 17 de diciembre de 2014 (17D). Al flexibilizar el envío de remesas y fomentar el apoyo a los trabajadores privados en Cuba, Estados Unidos ha logrado algunos avances en materia socio-económica para la isla a mediano plazo. Entre tanto, Cuba también ha generado una nueva apertura, ya que el proceso de actualización del modelo económico iniciado por el presidente Raúl Castro desde el año 2008 permitió la expansión del trabajo por cuenta propia o no estatal en determinadas actividades y el aumento del envío de remesas. La estrategia de poder blando estadounidense se centra, aparentemente, en una serie de incentivos económicos y plantea exigencias de apertura, libertad, derechos humanos y democracia para la isla. Como consecuencia de estas intenciones, aumentan los recelos dentro del Partido Comunista de Cuba (PCC) hacia los trabajadores privados, pese al discurso celebratorio que poco a poco ha ganado lugar.

This article analyzes the impact of the soft power of the United States, as a politic of state, towards the change of Government in Cuba, starting from the diplomatic rapprochement in December 17th, 2014 (17D). By making the sending of remittances more flexible and supporting private workers, the United States promote a transformation of the island`s social structure, in a medium term. The national Cuban context facilitates this transformation; the process of actualization of the economic model, promoted by the President Raul Castro allowed the expansion of the work in non-state sectors and the increasing of the remittances. The strategy of soft power of the United States to overthrow the socialist Government is masked behind financial incentives and demands bigger opening, freedom, human rights and democracy. Therefore, grows the distrust of the Cuban Communist Party towards private workers, despite the celebratory speech that has won place, gradually.
