JEAN JEAN, Melina. Uses of photographs of the disappeared and murdered people as a device and iconographic element in memory and human rights activism in Argentina. []. , 16, pp.91-101. ISSN 2477-9199.  https://doi.org/10.26807/cav.v9i16.544.

This article addresses the course of the uses of photographs of disappeared and murdered people that are part of the materiality of several memorials erected in public spaces to commemorate victims from the period of political violence of the seventies and the last dictatorship in Argentina (1976-1983). Starting from the theoretical perspective based on Memory Studies and through the selection of some cases that are considered representatives, the objective is to account for the various devices that photography adopts and its incorporation as an iconographic element of representations that are included in the action repertoire of activism for memory and human rights. Key issues on the subject are exposed, the corpus is analyzed and, finally, some conclusions are presented to think about the place of photography in the present.
