OLIVARI, María Cecilia. Disciplinary Visuals Technologies: photographic archives, modern pathos and artistic declassification in Rossagela Rennó’s and Mujeres Creando’s artwork. []. , 16, pp.65-76. ISSN 2477-9199.  https://doi.org/10.26807/cav.v8i16.540.

The objective of this article is to problematize the uses of photographic archives in contemporary art based on case studies, and to inquire photography as a practice and as a technology of subjectivation in the colonial context. To this end, a journey is proposed that demarcates photographic developments as modern technology, which pays attention to the collections questioned by the artists and, finally, reflects on the displacements and the proposed criticisms. The proposed analysis takes as starting point is the production of new cultural artifacts that appropriate, process or edit documentary materials. Both “Vulgo” from Rosângela Rennó and “Una lectura no autorizada de la Historia” from Mujeres creando’s colective, are understood as proposals for artistic declassification that appeal to multiple material and visual strategies to elaborate the archive in workart-formats.
