El presente artículo tiene por finalidad transitar a través de diferentes experiencias curatoriales en, desde y sobre América Latina para definir el arte contemporáneo, desde las voces de los propios artistas, curadores, investigadores y críticos. En el entretejido de tales discursos, el debate se centra en el tiempo y el espacio como variables determinantes; la temporalidad a la que se suscribe el arte de forma no lineal y en correspondencia con la yuxtaposición de sus espacios de representación. De esta manera, el concepto de Heterotopía propuesto por Michael Foucault se cita para abordar y caracterizar el arte contemporáneo desde la lógica del mundo global contemporáneo y la heterogeneidad como principio de convivencia cultural.

The purpose of this article is to go through different curatorial experiences in, from and about Latin America to define contemporary art, from the voices of the artists themselves, curators, researchers and critics. In the interweaving of such discourses, the debate focuses on time and space as determining variables; the temporality to which art is subscribed in a non-linear way and in correspondence with the juxtaposition of its spaces of representation. In this way, the concept of Heterotopia proposed by Michael Foucault is cited to address and characterize contemporary art from the logic of the contemporary global world and heterogeneity as a principle of cultural coexistence.
