Using group discussion and documentary analysis methodologies, it became evident the need to structure the curriculum from the identification and declaration of training intentions at a macro level that relate the academic content with the contextual and disciplinary social reality in the environment. Based on this, the link between disciplinary components of architecture and the particular geoclimatic context of the Latin American region is discussed from eight problematic nuclei that make the proposal of the program’s curricular design more complex. Thus, the geographical, climatic and socio-spatial conditions of the Andean tropics and their impact on the curricular design of the architecture program at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Medellin campus are related here.
