JARAMILLO CHAMBA, Daniel Armando; GONZALEZ, Washington Virgilio Panchana; CALVA, Angel Yoel Cumbicos    MOLINA, Nevison Eduardo Escudero. Smart irrigation system for the maintenance of green areas in an educational institution. []. , 10, 2, pp.50-63. ISSN 1390-7697.  https://doi.org/10.26423/rctu.v10i2.740.

In this study, the effectiveness of a smart irrigation system was evaluated compared to a conventional irrigation system in maintaining green areas in an educational institution. An experimental design with two treatments and four replications was used during the months of June to October. The results indicate that the smart irrigation system was more effective in maintaining green areas compared to the conventional irrigation system. It is concluded that the use of automation in an irrigation system can improve grass growth and reduce weed presence in green areas in an educational institution, which can lead to more efficient water use and a reduction in maintenance costs. This study may have important implications for the management of green areas in educational institutions and other public spaces.
