During the first session the SciELO-Ecuador Advisory Committee was sharply formed, with the following members:
- Doctor Susana Wappenstein, representative of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences Ecuador Headquarters, designated by Official Letter No. 096/15, dated October 29, 2015 and ratified by Official No. Dir. No. 037/17, dated April 10, 2017 , as a principal member of the Advisory Committee
- Doctor Marleen Haboud, representative of the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador, appointed by Legal Notice-DGA-DINV-517-2017, dated April 3, 2017 as an alternate member of the Advisory Committee
- Doctor Danilo Chávez, representative of the National Polytechnic School, designated by Official Letter No. EPN-R-2015-0352-O, dated October 29, 2015 and ratified by means of a sum inserted in Memorandum No. EPN-DACI-2017-0354-M, of dated May 24, 2017, as an alternate member of the Advisory Committee;
- Doctor Luis Alfonso Álvarez Rodas, Representative of the Salesian Polytechnic University, appointed by Official No. 742-2015 UPS-RECTORADO, dated November 4, 2015 and ratified by Official No. 130-2017- UPS-RECTORADO, dated April 10, 2017, as a member principal of the Advisory Committee;
- Doctor Xavier Bolívar Lastra Bravo, representative of the Central University of Ecuador, appointed by Office 312 D-FCAG, dated May 29, 2017, as an alternate member of the Advisory Committee;
- PhD. Diego Cisneros Heredia, Representative of the San Francisco University of Quito, appointed by Official No. R-1170-2015 dated November 10, 2015 and ratified by Official No. R-647-2017 dated May 31, 2017, as principal member of the Committee Advisory;
- Doctor Xavier Landívar Varas, representative of the Catholic University Santiago de Guayaquil, appointed by Official Letter No. R-1170-2015 of November 10, 2015 and ratified by Official Letter R-647-2017 of May 31, 2017 as an alternate member of the Advisory Committee; - Doctor Enrique Vinicio Carrera Erazo, Representative of the University of the Armed Forces, appointed by Official Letter ESPE-REC-2017-0585-O, dated June 14, 2017, as the main member of the Advisory Committee;

. The Internal Regulations of the Advisory Committee were also approved and the journals that would make up the pilot program were defined.
