Advisory Committee of SciELO-Ecuador

The Advisory Committee operates within the scope of the SciELO-Ecuador Collection and is made up of scientific editors representing all the editors of national journals in the main areas of knowledge, and representatives of institutions promoting scientific research and communication.

The advisory committee will be made up of:

a) The General Coordinator of the SciELO-Ecuador Collection, or his delegate, with the right to speak and vote;

b) Six (6) main researchers and / or editors and their respective alternates, chosen from among the indexed journals of the SciELO-Ecuador Collection and the institutions that make up the National System of Science, Technology, Innovation and Ancient Knowledge. , representing the different areas of knowledge: Agrarian, Biological (including Health), Exact and Earth (including Engineering), Humanities (including Social) and Literature, Linguistics and Arts, with the right to voice and vote; who must have their respective substitutes; of which two (2) will be chosen from experience in the SciELO Collection - Ecuador, three (3) will be chosen from among higher education institutions - IES, and one (1) from among public research institutes - IPls. For the choice of researchers and / or substitute editors, the same criteria should be considered.

c) Two (2) main delegates and their respective alternates, from public bodies of the Higher Education System, with the right to voice and vote.

d) One (1) technician from the Operational Management, who will act as Secretary, with the right to speak and without vote.

The Advisory Committee must meet at least three times a year and has the function of developing, analyzing, discussing, proposing recommendations and deciding on the following areas and lines of action:

a. Application of quality control policies, criteria and procedures in the evaluation of journals for inclusion and permanence in the collection.

b. Refinement of the scientific character, performance, impact and influence of the Collection as a whole, of the individual journals and of the research they communicate;

c. Inclusion of new magazines in the SciELO-Ecuador Collection;

d. Magazines exclusion from the SciELO-Ecuador Collection;

e. Periodic evaluation of the performance of the National Collection as a whole and of the journals individually, proposing recommendations for its improvement;

f. Updating the evaluation criteria for admission and permanence of journals in the Collection;

g. Definition and improvement of the functioning of the Committee, to efficiently fulfill its attributions;

h. Review, modification and approval of its internal operating system regulations;

i. Call for professionals from public or private institutions, researchers and national and international academics, to form a group of peer ad hoc reviewers for the evaluation of journals and advice on specific topics;

j. Promotion of the SciELO Ecuador collection at the level of the institutions they represent and in other instances;

k. Presentation of plans, projects and other activities necessary for the proper management of the SciELO-Ecuador Collection;

l. Issue criteria regarding quality scientific production and scientific dissemination to the Secretary of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, so that these are considered in the implementation of public policies. For this purpose, they may promote spaces or mechanisms for citizen participation.
